Job Description Job Description Irvine, CA Contract-to-Hire $28–$30/hour Overview We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer II Technician to support Outside Plant (OSP) operations in Irvine, CA. This role focuses on fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic networks to ensure high performance and reliability. The ideal candidate has hands-on splicing experience, strong technical knowledge, and is comfortable working independently in the field. Responsibilities Perform fiber splicing, testing, and certification of fiber optic networks Use fusion splicers, OTDRs, and related tools to ensure low-loss connections Conduct fiber maintenance, upgrades, and field troubleshooting Perform OTDR testing to validate splice quality Assist with installation and configuration of network equipment as needed Conduct site surveys and network assessments Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues Document network repairs, testing results, and upgrades Provide on-site technical support when required Work safely in outdoor environments and active job sites Qualifications 2 years of experience in fiber splicing or telecommunications Strong understanding of fiber splicing techniques and equipment Experience with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber testing tools Ability to read fiber maps, schematics, and technical drawings Familiarity with splice closures, connectors, and fiber infrastructure Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces Fiber certifications (CFOT or similar) preferred
