Operator Job Description We are seeking an Extruder Operator to
operate and monitor extrusion equipment used to apply hot compounds
over cable. In this role, you will set up machines, select and
install the correct tooling, load compounds, and ensure precise
temperature and diameter settings for a high-quality finish. You
will also perform cleaning and changeovers between jobs and
materials, and closely monitor 4–6 types of equipment during full
operation to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient production.
Responsibilities Prepare and set up extrusion machines, select
correct tooling, and load the hopper with the appropriate compound.
Configure temperature settings, line speed, and other critical
parameters to achieve specified diameter and finish. Operate and
monitor multiple pieces of equipment related to extrusion during
full production. Calculate and verify product diameter and
tolerances according to work instructions. Follow detailed work
instructions and standard work to ensure consistent product
quality. Use data to make informed adjustments and maintain
operational excellence targets. Clean the machine barrel, head, and
tooling prior to starting a new job or when changing compounds.
Perform routine minor maintenance and escalate issues promptly to
minimize downtime. Adhere to all safety protocols, PPE
requirements, and company policies. Maintain a clean, organized,
and safe work area (5S). Identify and implement improvements to
processes, workstations, and workflows to increase efficiency and
reduce waste. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and take
ownership of tasks that drive customer-focused outcomes. Essential
Skills Experience operating manual industrial machinery.
Comfortable performing laborious work and heavy lifting.
Understanding of basic mathematics and measurements. Basic ability
to set up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment. Proficiency with
calipers and other inspection and measurement tools. Additional
Skills & Qualifications Ability to read and understand detailed

glasses (up to $200). Work Environment Work in an industrial
manufacturing environment. The position is for the 2nd shift
(2:15pm - 10:45pm) from Monday to Friday, with optional shifts on
weekends. Training will be provided on a swing shift (10am -
6:30pm) for 1 - 2 months. The environment is not temperature
controlled and can be hot or cold depending on the weather. Job
Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of
San Marcos, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is
$19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits
and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
